entry way

I've been thinking about our entry way for a while now...
ever since we had the downstairs repainted.
I chose not to hang anything back on the walls
but rather to let it sit
and see what it felt like it needed.
I'm holding out hope that the new peacock mirror
I found at z gallerie will work.
Its the absolute perfect size.
We currently have a demilune
from Ethan Allen there
to catch keys and mail
but its never really felt "right" there.
I've been looking at colored dressers
thinking a big pop of color would be nice there.
Something unexpected.
That's how I'm rolling lately...
expect the unexpected.
Today I saw this picture:

PERFECTION!
With the blue and white pots too...
SWOON!

This is pretty too...
just won't be happening in this house
(no more painting walls per my sweet DH)

entry

Love the black console against the green,
the symmetry of the two lamps,
and of course a starburst mirror.
Doesn't get any better in my humble opinion :)

obsessed

So remember this post about Wisteria's peacock mirror

via

It was on sale at Wisteria for half price
but still...even on sale it was over (gulp) $1000.

Then Restoration Hardware did a knock off.
Regular price about the same as Wisteria on sale.
Gulp.

I actually went to the store to look at it
because
(gulp)
I considered getting it.
So the one at Restoration looked like,
pardon my french, _ _ _ _ .
AWFUL.
Oy vey.
Looks like a badly poured concrete form
with mirrors randomly stuck on it.
Glad I didn't order it online
without checking it out in person first.

Even then
I couldn't get it off my mind.

I'm always looking at signs from the universe right?

To see if something seems "meant to be."

Follow my math here...

"peacock" mirror LOVE
+
{my dad grew up in a small southern town
known only for its annual "Peacock Festival"}

= it was meant to be mine.

Shorter equation: I'm crazy.
Period.
So what's a girl to do?

Email Pier 1 of course
to see if they have plans
to re-issue their knock-off version
that sent bloggers and design lovers
into a frenzy to get their version for under $300.
Pier One was gracious.
They checked all their warehouses for me
but no such luck
and according to their nice customer service people
they really don't "re-issue" products.

**UPDATE**
Yes they do.
Pier One reissued it as the "Golden Medallions" mirror.
Just saying.

Then low and behold,
<insert the sound of angels singing>,
today I see this.

The holy grail...

I went at 10am sharp to Z Gallerie to buy
their version...
in my opinion
the best Wisteria peacock mirror knockoff
EVER.
But alas!
Its not expected in store until May.
(You can order it online but will ship in 5 - 6 weeks.)
Mine is on reserve and I can't wait!

**A special thank you to
one of my favorite blogs
for mentioning
this blog post.**

what have I done?

I signed up for a triathlon yesterday.
It's official that I've lost my freakin' mind.
And I'm scared.
That's official too.
But I'm at a point in my life where I REFUSE to be limited by fear.
That's why after having a tremendous fear of the water
my whole life
I started taking swimming lessons.
Yes, at the tender age of 41 I'm learning how to swim.
My lovely swim teacher, Marlena, is helping me conquer my fear.
By the end of our first session she had me going underwater.
We were both shocked since
before I even got in the pool
I was crying because I was so scared.
So when a running buddy {Allison}
sent a link to a triathlon here in Texas
and another peep said she was in,
well, hell,
I jumped off the cliff too
and signed up.
And I think I'm going to lose some weight during this process
because my heart is now constantly racing.
Lord, what have I done?

coral crush

Hello Lovely...

Coral Collector

I've been looking at Elva Fields' beautiful jewelry now for a while. Now you know I'm loving me some orange lately. Cant get enough. I think I have a disease. Orange-itis anyone? In any case the above beauty is on the way to my home courtesy of DH. I usually talk myself out of buying things for myself. Stop laughing. Its true. Anyway...let's call this a belated Valentine's Day present. Gotta LOVE love. Especially when it comes to orange.
