I'm ready

We've made our way through the mountains of gifts
that Santa brought...paper and cardboard recycled
and the new toys have found homes
{just be careful opening a door in my house...
or be prepared for an avalanche}.
Even the outside decorations have been away.
I don't know about you but
I'm ready to get the new year started.

Have a safe and happy New Year's Eve!

high vs my

Call me crazy but this reminds me of

Pinned Image
all its missing is the high price tag
{~$1100 for just the chair at RH}

busy bee

I don't know what got into my DH last night
but when he offered to put together my new treasure
I didn't ask questions, I just did what he asked...
it was easy peasy to put together
and its rock solid...no particle board here.

I left the drawers open a bit so you could see them...
{you couldn't see them clearly on the WM site}.
I'm not sure about the finish with everything else
but I'm going to wait and see.
The size is PERFECT and so was the price...
and that's enough for me.

Merry Christmas to me

Normally I avoid shopping on the day after Christmas.
{well shopping in person in stores that is.}
But yesterday I went to world market on a whim.
OK, they emailed a 15% today only coupon, how could I resist?
and Merry Christmas to me a certain piece of furniture
I've been stalking was in stock!
And it was on sale!
PLUS I had my 15% off coupon.
{insert the sound of angels singing}

Hello lover.

Thanks to the lovely Lauren Leonard for the tip on this.
I saw it on her blog last week and nearly fell out.
I'd been lusting after the pricey Wisteria version FOREVER...

but at $1299 I just couldn't digest it when I knew
somebody somewhere some day would do a knock off.
I love you World Market.
Their version is normally $299...
currently on sale for $249.99
with my coupon I saved another $37.50.
SCORE!

Is it wrong to add that a bonus of the day
was the look on my husband's face when I got home,
backed the car up to the garage and opened my minivan
to reveal the monster box holding my new treasure.
PRICELESS!

Did anybody else gift themselves this Christmas?

what's cooking

Back to reality after a fun Christmas.
Hope yours was happy!
On the agenda today is cleaning up the toy bomb
that went off in my living room.
But I am getting my Martha on in the kitchen
and cooking this little treat I saw on pinterest

A couple of cans of biscuits,
maple syrup, butter, and pecans
in a bundt pan...what could be better?
I'll let you know how it turns out.

Christmas is here!

O come, let us adore him.

We enjoyed a beautiful Christmas Eve service last night.
The regular sanctuary was so crowded that there was no room
for us to sit, not even in the balcony.
I thought of Mary and Joseph wandering around
looking for a place to stay.
So we went to the overflow fellowship hall.
When we walked in it was empty but the service was
being broadcast on a huge screen.
The lights were out except for the glow from two huge
Christmas trees on either side of the room.
Pretty soon we heard others walking in the room.
Then ushers realized the fellowship hall was filling up.
Lights went on. Candles were lit.
I can't explain the feeling but it was beautiful.
It was Christmas.
Friends and strangers alike gathering to listen
and watch as the story of Jesus's birth was told
by young children dressed
as the holy family, shepherds, and angels.
Songs were sung. Bible verses read.
We were reminded of the real reason for the season.

Hope you and yours have a very

Merry Christmas.

lamp love

You may remember that I was helping my
mother-in-law find new lamps for her bedroom.
We looked high and low and she recently ordered a pair
{more on that later}.
We went to a high end lamp store just to look.
You know what happened next.
I fell in love.
With a pretty penny lamp.
Pinned Image

Times two.
Need I say more?
The pair of lamps would have been $600.
I'm not that kind of girl.

You know what I did next.
I went home and shopped online.
And found these beauties at Ballard.
Suzanne Kasler Large Gourd Lamp

On sale and with free shipping.
Making them a third of the cost of the others.
SOLD.

What do you think?
Look better?
Well at least I'm seeing better.
These lamps give off so much light compared to
the old lamps I had from Target.
My aging eyes need all the help they can get.

I'll admit I'm kind of second guessing the modern chandelier
I chose last year to replace the ceiling fan but for now...

I moved the old lamps around the house...
one to the sitting area.
Now to find the time to sit here and read. Ha!

tried to get a shot of the gallery wall here but
too much glare...this is the best i could do.

thinking of putting something above the lamps...
the wall just looks big and blah.
thoughts???
what about some mid size sunburst mirrors?
too much?
I never get tired of looking at this scene...
the river I grew up on...

this was my push present for baby #3.
we had the artist put a little egret to represent him...

Hope you have a happy day!

The red comforters, striped duvet and sham are all from target.
The euro sham is PBK.

the sailboat lithographs were from the same guy
who sold me the "england" trunk.
total SCOREs.

I know you love the LSU fan finger.
My delightful neighbors have brainwashed one of them. :)
At least its the SEC.

Still loving the red chevron trim

that I used on their drapes...

the bedskirts are new...from the RH outlet.
Got them sale on sale for a song...

I know. This is alot of pictures...
I took alot trying to get the light right.
I'm in the midst of switching computers.
I'm bound to find lots of "befores" of this room.
Cant wait to post those. You'll freak!

I'm an Anglophile at heart

...in case you didn't know that about me.
I'll spare you the details but I'm in love with England.
Is it any surprise when my bachelor neighbor
said he was selling this at a garage sale
that I snapped it up before he could even tag it?

Its been in storage for over a year but I've
always known that it would go in the twins' room
for that perfect pop of red...
I put it in their room last week and they both loved it!
Did I mention it was $20?
SCORE!

Sunday dose of pretty

decking the halls

We've put up the tree and we've decked the halls...

but the tree is not the only thing we're trimming...
look at this chevron trim I scored...

it even matches the new red comforters for the twins' room.
But you know if they had it in other colors
I was bound to buy that too...
meet the new green trim for Zb's room...

I've pinned the trim up on both sets of drapes
just to live with it and see how I like it.
You know committment is not my thing
when it comes to decorating...always moving stuff about.
Wait 'til you see what recently moved into the twins room.
Its a beauty!
